Sometimes, we will ponder why we ask in Jesus name or when we pray in Jesus name so many times for something and it’s not given. Then we begin to suspend is Jesus real? Why is he not giving my heart desire?

Today I read the “Experience God Day by Day” and learn one key thing about requesting and asking in prayer…Ask in the right motive. Ask according to his will and he will give more than what you expected! In the bible- mark (chap 10:35-52), there were two group of people (James and john and Blind Bartimaeus), they actually make request to the lord and only Blind Bartimaeus request was fulfill. From this story, the book reflects and questions our prayer.

Question: Why is one request granted and not the other?
Answer: Evaluate your request (prayer)
-Do we ask selfishly? (James and John asked for the most prominent place. Their request was selfish and brings dissension in verse 41).
-Are we asking for far less than God wants to give?( God is able to give more than what we ask in Eph 3:20)
-Are our requests worthy of the God we approach?
-Do we lack the faith God requires to give us our desires?
-Is there unconfessed sin? (God say he hide his eyes and shut his ear to sinner in is1:15)

Conclusion: God is interested in your prayer and request and he will respond to it (Mat 7:7 -10 “if his son asks for bread, will give him stone?”.) However, the question lies with are we asking God for things in a right motive? Is it out of selfish desire? Is it according to his will? Do we have faith in receiving when we ask? If we are sinning against God (do you know that not spending time with God (Quiet time) is a sin?) and yet we still ask for things we want in his name, do you think God will grant our request?

From there, I learn the important of spending time with the Lord (reading bible and prayer) and this is how we can be sensitive to the Holy Spirit so as to recognize the voice of the Holy Spirit. When we spend time with the Lord, we are protected with his word and we are sensitive to the spirit. We will not question or think (is that Holy Spirit or voice from Satan?) we will know it is the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit will guide our ways and protect us from any harm and threats from the evil ones.

Through the book “Overflowing the Holy Spirit, I learnt the important of Holy Spirit. And how Holy Spirit can protect us from harm and physical or emotional threats. Also, Holy Spirit is the one that Jesus left behind for man as a communication tools to Jesus. And how Holy Spirit will guide your path and help you in all circumstance (so that you will not suffer from any barrier). I think it’s a good book and will like to share more about it in my next post when I learn the different between vital and important? Do you know what is vital in life and what is important in life?
