Pre-camp: Last saturday was the busiest day for me.. running from one event after another.. first thing in the morn have to attend MSW symposium at 7 am ..follow by rushing to tya survive camp pre-run at 11:00 am and after these got to go to wan lin's 21st birthday party..the worst part is these 3 event their timeslot clash with one another ..so I have to excuse myself half an hour earlier for each event and changes my clothes 3 times lol ..cos the morn event requires formal wear, the camp just need to wear super casual while my friend's birthday need to wear something presentable not too formal hee . . but i do enjoy all the 3 events. .
Day 1: Sunday was the first day of my tya camp..God really answer prayer.. I was rather bored serving as a admin in tya not able to do much ..so i told God how i wish i can be involve as a counselor in this camp.. God heard my prayer and indeed i am one by my surprise.. and i was a main counselor for one of the clan. Initally I thank God for the answer prayer...but i didn't know that to be a main counselor was not an easy task. This was God's first surprise for me - become a main counselor for the camp.
Ok get to know my assistant counselor and clan members. . follow by knowing my group of kids..which was my second surprise - the kids. There was one child with medical issue, the other was a rather well known kid in tya -. Volunteer do inform me must pay extra attention to him..I do heard of his past story ..and worst I have other 2 kids of the same club as him and some volunteer who know them was questioning how come they are in the same group in the camp? At first, I was worried ..pondering ..God how am i going to handle it .. But thank God, he was faithful to soar me through...so day one begins with 2 suprise...and i got to known these kids.. and this well known kid .. well the usual .. i will try to break ice with the group..play simple ice breaker..and we begin with designing group flag..wasn't easy initially as the group was divide to girls extrem quiet and boy being noisy. . well then day 1 continue with briefing, lunch, dinner , games and highlight - the operation night game where different clans attacking one another territory to claim their flag..was fun to see kids having to pour water to tear down the newspaper of the defender and some do enjoy the games..especially the boys.. thank God manage to break ice with the kids in day1..
Day 2: focus more on team building..have a series of team building game..not easy to gather the kids in group ..but i thank God for the girls are very very obedient in following instruction..but i do thank God for the boys too ..despite they are naughty, they make the group atmosphere "high" with their loud cheers and spontaneous participation. Though i do have to be the bad " mama" to nag and lecture them time after time.. and havin to search high and low for this well know boy ..I am glad at least they are still quite a well behave group after all...as compare ...as usual ..the night structure experience was a highlight for the boy.. a nightmare for some girls.. having to overcome some of their greatest fear .. it also thought me to be patient and loving to convince some of the kids to overcome these fear .. when they are reluctant to do so ..
Day 3: morn was a great experience traveling to bukit timah for a fun hiking experience.. though it was a burning afternoon with limited water ..and mosquito being our "friend" well doing the hike, it was a memorable experience when we actually eat lunch- maggie mee and can food in a beautiful scenary . . at first was rather uncomfortable for the kids and myself having to eat under the hot afternoon sun.. and having some flies in the maggie mee (OMG)..however we manage to finish our lunch and take some nice picture there..now i learnt how i can survive living in rural side hee ...the campfire at night was awesome..different clan doing their performance..i do like the song alpha clan sing with the lyric edited.. also a time for thanksgiving where volunteer and kids went up to stage to give thanks ...i personally went up to give thanks too...
Day 4: Last day of the camp..busy with autograph..and ended with some fun games..wonderful prize for the kids... sadly no present for volunteer = [ .. photo taking and ...home sweet home... on my way home i actually read the msg given to me from my group of kids..was touched with their sweet msg ..i rem the well known boy writing " thanks for cheering me up..thanks for everything and i wanted to say sorry for being naughty.." i can see that this boy has grown up..after all ...unfortunately i need to return to work the next day ...actually i have not enough rest for the whole week...cos the following day got friend's 21st birthday to attend ..got class and club the next day and church work after that ..and today back to work and piano class (stress...)
it's actually a great experience in tya camp..God actually answer my prayer 3 times..and i do learnt important lesson through this experience....
