*.* If ..only *.*

"If only I was born in America, where everyone speaks and writes English, I would not have a hard time writing it. "

Well, it is impossible for me to be born again. The "if..only" condition is just one way for me to express my regrets. I don't really like to use the word "if ..only" as it makes me sound as if I am utterly pathetic.

I was rather upset...No, I should say that I was resented of my language efficiency ever since the beginning of my school term. I assumed that "Uni" life should be a fun and exciting journey for me to look forward to (since I am taking a course that I liked) until I started to attend the classes. It's not the lesson taught in class that piss me off but the overwhelming assignments that worn me out. The assignments look more like a "Q&A" session written in essay form and we are given approximately two and a half weeks to complete the assignments. To meet the deadline and to come out with at least 2000 words is already a big headache for me. What make it worst was the weightage for language proficiency. Fyi, Language has been my biggest weak point for the past 20 years of my education. Even till now, I struggle writing a proper sentence with correct tenses and punctuation. I recalled this morning when I was trying to do a write up at work and I spend more than half an hour just to amend my sentences. To my horror, I only managed to write four sentences within half an hour. I have spend more than half an hour editing and re-editing my sentences. What an amusement !

Situation like this do make me ponder, "Where is my linguistic intelligent ?"
I guess, I should even ask myself , "Do I even have such intelligent ? "

I think I should be "immune" with my "Broken English". Afterall, it was not as if I have not put in effort to brush up my English. I remember those times I force myself to watch English program, to listen to english radio station and to do many revisions and practices from assessment books. I always believe that with that much effort I put in, I should, at least, be able to speak or write well and perhaps, I would even love English languages eventually. I did not expect that these effort to have gone down the drain.

I recounted a visit to a salon and one of the hairstylist ever told me this - "To be a hairstylist, you need to have interest in it. This interest will motivate you to practice and work hard for it. However, do note that hard work does not guarantee you to become a hairstylist unless you are gifted or have the talent in it. "

This words though sounded discouraging, they do make sense. Hard work reminds me of Rock Lee in Naruto. Unlike Naruto and Sasuke who have gifted power, Rock lee has no gift or talent which cause him to work extra hard just to become a true Ninja. Eventually, he become a Ninja, but due to his limited power, he was not able to defend the others and once, he got himself wounded badly in a battle that nearly cause him to be paralysed.

Does this means that gifting is better than hardwork ?
I am not sure...Perhaps.. I hope God can prove me wrong...

ps: I spent nearly one and a half hour writting this...again..I can't believe it...
